CHAINED ROCK, Pine Mountain State Resort Park, KY

On my Joyful Reflections blog post today (click HERE),  I talked about how gorgeous Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Kentucky is.  I showed some photos of the lodge and area.  This photo today is only one of several hikes we took while there.  This was a hike to a place called CHAINED ROCK.

The hike took us to the edge of the top of a mountain where there is a HUGE ROCK.  Since there is a town right below that big rock (Pineville, KY),  years ago they put a big chain up  there supposedly protecting the people in Pineville.   The big rock has never fallen --so I suppose that the people below are SAFE.... I will do an entire blog post about this sometime on Joyful Reflections... It was an interesting hike!!!

Sempervivum (Hens and Chicks) in our Yard

Besides all of the beautiful flowers,  George and I also grow SEMPERVIVUM in our yard.  These little Hens and Chicks are gorgeous.  I have done several blogs showing off our semps.  Here's one of those posts if you want to see more.  Click HERE.    Hope you enjoy the photo today  taken on 6/29/13.

Pine Mountain State Park, Kentucky

On our trip to Kentucky (June 19-23, 2013) to celebrate our anniversary,  George and I spent two nights at the beautiful lodge at Pine Mountain State Park.  We ate breakfast at their lodge restaurant (delicious) both mornings ---and each day we enjoyed seeing FOG in the valley below Pine Mountain.  Isn't it just gorgeous?

Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee

On our trip home from Kentucky (where we celebrated our anniversary),  we stopped and took this photo after coming up on the Cumberland Plateau,  not far from our home.  We travel to many places, but there's not much prettier than HOME....

Happy Birthday America

Mt.  Rushmore,  South Dakota
What could be more appropriate on July 4 than a photo from Mr. Rushmore,  South Dakota?  We visited there on Sept.25, 2012.   I had seen photos of the four Presidents  depicted (George Washington,   Thomas Jefferson,  Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln) --but had never seen Mt. Rushmore in person.  WOW--what an experience!!!!!  If you haven't visited there,  be sure and go sometime!

Hope each of you have a very nice July 4th...  God Bless America!
