I started it for two reasons: 1. to give people who like short blogs an alternative to my longer one; and 2. a place to show off some of my better photos....

This blog never did catch on with most people since I seldom ever got more than 5-8 comments each time I posted... SO---because of the lack of interest and because of my time constraints, I'm shutting down this blog for awhile. I may or may not post here again...

BUT---I will definitely keep JOYFUL REFLECTIONS---so I invite all of you to click on the link and visit my main blog!!!!! I post almost every Monday..

HAPPY NEW YEAR and many blessings to you.

Hugs,
December begins our Winter Season here in Tennessee..... Sometimes we get some snow in December and sometimes we do NOT.... BUT---I just had to share this picture (NOT from this year) of a very upset Carolina Wren waiting for a turn at the Bird Kitchen on our deck --on a cold and wintery day!!!!! He was perched on a Rhododendron bud while waiting. I love the picture --along with the Cardinal in the header at the top.... When it is snowy, the sad and hungry little birds flock to the feeders and I enjoy watching them.....

Here's hoping that we do get some SNOW here this winter. It would be nice to have some during the Christmas Season --but I'll enjoy it whenever we get some....... HOPE HOPE HOPE.....

Have a wonderful Christmas my friends---and be sure to feed the birds when it's cold outside!
We took a short trip to one of our favorite inns from Oct. 10-13, 2017. This inn is the Pisgah Inn which can be found along the Blue Ridge Parkway at an elevation of about 5100 feet not far from Asheville, North Carolina.

One of the joys of that trip was the view we had from our room in the inn. What an awesome way to wake up!!!!!! The header picture shows a view of the sunrise one morning... The picture above shows the fog in the valleys below, during the early morning hours, surrounded by those beautiful mountain ranges... I could have stayed out on that balcony checking out this view FOREVER...

Hope you have an awesome NOVEMBER.... If you ever have a chance to stay at the Pisgah Inn, you will LOVE it. For more information about the Pisgah Inn, click HERE.
Hello to my wonderful Blog Friends! George and I just returned from a wonderful 16 day trip out west... This trip was spent mostly in Utah and in a little part of Arizona... Today's header and photo are both from one of our favorite places, CEDAR BREAKS NATIONAL MONUMENT (found near Cedar City, Utah). This park isn't open year-round like many of them, since their elevation is over 10,000 feet... They do get a lot of snow there!!! In fact, on our last trip in June of 2011, we did see some snow while there.

This year, even though there was a brisk and cold wind blowing while we were there, we did not see any snow... I am featuring two of my favorite pictures for you today from this trip to Cedar Breaks... I love seeing the gorgeous Engelmann Pine trees in this park. However, beetles have destroyed many of them.. BUT--the good news is that these pines come back quickly--as you can see when looking at my blog post photo today..

Hope you enjoy these two pictures ---and hope you will stop by my Joyful Reflections Blog next week to see much more from our fabulous Western Trip...

Have a fantastic October!

Hugs,
Welcome to SEPTEMBER, 2017.... I hope that this month and future ones bring our family (especially son Mark) much more JOY... August was rough for him (first the death of his wife, then the hurricane and flooding, and then the price-gouging he had to endure in order to get his car fixed after the flooding).... Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. (You can read more about Debbie's death and our love for her by clicking HERE, and reading that post plus THIS one).

My pictures today (header and post picture) were taken in October of 2016 on our trip to see the Autumn Colors in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I hope that we can see more of this beauty this Fall.... I'm looking forward to the Autumn Colors (but not raking the leaves)... ha ha

Have an awesome September, my Friends.

Welcome to August..... August is a special month for me since it is my birthday month.... George always comes up with some nice surprises for me --so that makes it even more special, except for the fact that I'm turning the BIG SEVENTY FIVE this coming Saturday, August 5.... YIPES....

Today I'm featuring two of our 2017 ROSES growing in our yard for YOU.... The header at the top is named FLAMINCO and it is new to our yard this year. Isn't it just gorgeous?? AND the one featured on this post is named SUMMER SURPRISE. The colors of these two roses are similar --but they are very unique and different, one from the other....

Thanks to George and his hard work taking care of the roses (trying to keep the deer away especially). I really do get to enjoy seeing all of them blooming. No two rose is ever alike, even the ones on the same bush... Don't we wish that people were more like roses? The Roses just BLOOM and never complain or compare themselves to other roses... Each one knows that he/she is beautiful and unique.

Have an awesome AUGUST, my Friends.

Hugs,
The photo in this post is another of my favorite lilies, named DIZZY.... I enjoy seeing our Lilies individually --but also enjoy them in groups!
George and I spent a couple of days enjoying some hiking and of course some special time for photography in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee on January 17 and 18, 2017. Two of our favorite places to go are the Tremont area (west of Gatlinburg) AND the Greenbriar area (east of Gatlinburg). We love going on those back roads and stopping to take LOTS of pictures along the creeks/water...

Today I will share two pictures for you... The header at the top was taken on 1/17 at TREMONT... I love sitting by the creek enjoying the beautiful Rhododendrons by the water...

The other picture was taken on 1/18 at GREENBRIAR. Again, there are Rhododendrons along the creek bank. But--I also love seeing the little bridge crossing the creek.

Hope you enjoyed a couple of pictures from 'our' SMOKIES!!!!! They are just so gorgeous!

Hugs,

As you probably know, George and I love to go to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina twice a year. We go in May and then again in late November/early December. If I had to choose only one time a year to go, I'd choose the NOV/DEC time since that is when we can see both sunrises and sunsets from our balcony at the Islander Inn. It's also less crowded that time of year --so we have the beach to ourselves. We do love to walk on the beach --and can do that both in May and Nov/Dec.

WELL---we do enjoy going both times and both of us LOVE the wonderful fresh seafood we can get in nearby Calabash.

The header picture at the top shows a picture taken at sunrise from the beach. And the picture at the top of this post shows the sunset from the same location.... Hope you enjoy them!!!

Have an awesome January---2017!!!! WOW.

Here are two photos for you today.. Both were taken on our latest visit to the Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina on 11/20/16. I enjoy walking through the conservatory at Biltmore and seeing all of their gorgeous Christmas Pretties on display.

The header shows some of that beauty. The picture above shows one of the pretty wreaths on one of the big doors at Biltmore. Do you like wreaths? I love seeing all of the unique ones at Biltmore... Gorgeous.

Hope each of you will have a fantastic December this year... Blessings to you!

Be sure and check back on Monday (12/5/16) and see more pretty pictures from Biltmore on my main blog, Joyful Reflections.. Click HERE.

George and I took a trip to the Smoky Mountains to see all of the Fall Colors... We definitely went at the right time this year since we saw some of the prettiest colors there that we have ever seen before... I think I took a gazillion pictures that day!!!!

The picture above and the header photo were both taken on 10/19/16. The header was taken on the road between Clingman's Dome and Newfound Gap. The picture above was taken a little south of Newfound Gap (on the North Carolina side)...

Hope you have enjoyed this season.. Have a fantastic November.

(NOTE: I do not know what the little symbol is on my Header Photo in the middle---and I cannot get it OUT. It is not on my original photo... Is this a new Blogger thing? Anyone ever seen it? Maybe they want me to make my picture smaller --which I do NOT want to do..... Ideas??????)
My header gives you a pretty picture of the Aspens in Colorado --but one doesn't have to drive all the way to Colorado from Tennessee in order to see Fall Beauty. This picture was taken in 2015 in our neighborhood while we were taking a walk...

I hope our Autumn here is as pretty as last year --but since we have been in a severe drought, I am not sure what kind of colors (other than BROWN) we will have. Guess I have to wait a few weeks to see what happens. In the meantime, I am enjoying last year's Autumn pictures.

Have a wonderful October wherever you are.
I have been thinking about our wonderful trip last year (August, 2015) to the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. One of the highlights of that trip was seeing the SUNSET each evening from various locations..

The header photo was taken from the Oxbow Bend area of the Grand Tetons. Don't you love the reflections in the water along the Snake River?

This picture (above) was taken on August 24, 2015 but was from the Lake Jackson area.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my memories from the Grand Tetons.
This is a great picture showing all of the colorful LILYPADS surrounding the Water Lily in my header.... I'm not sure which I like the best: The Lily OR the Lily Pads!!!! What do you think?

Both of these pictures (the one above AND the header) were taken at the Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina.

Hope you are doing fine!!!!
Welcome to June... Last month I featured some ROSES in our yard. This month I am featuring some of our LILIES... The header at the top is a picture of a group of lilies named DIZZY... And the picture above is of another couple of lilies named GOLDBAND.

Which of these two do you like the best? I love them both --so it's hard to choose a favorite... However, I do love the color YELLOW, especially during the Summer. SO---I guess I would choose Goldband.

Have a fantastic month!
Welcome to April!!!!! I cannot believe that time is marching by SO fast...

Today's photo was another one (along with my header this month) taken on our latest trip to Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina.

Biltmore does SUCH a great job with all of their seasonal gardens.. We try to get there 3-4 times a year to see different flowers in bloom during each season. This time, we saw lots of Daffodils, Hyacinths, Crocuses, Pansies and Tulips blooming in the walled garden. We'll go back soon to see the Azaleas and more Tulips.

I loved the way they put all of the purples together.. I'm not sure I have ever seen prettier hyacinths.

Have an awesome month!

Hugs,
Welcome to March!!!!! George and I spent several fantastic days in Arkansas this past month. While there, we enjoyed just relaxing in our little cabin on the mountain. We had great views from our back patio of the valley below and also of the gorgeous skies we saw that week. We saw some of the most beautiful sunsets that we have ever seen. And it was fantastic seeing those views while enjoying a cup of coffee in front of a roaring fire in the fireplace in our cabin... Life was AWESOME (as it always is for us).

But--being at the cabin wasn't all that we did.... We did some hiking, saw some waterfalls, ate some great food, AND even saw SNOW on Mt. Magazine (LOTS of snow)... For those of you who know me, you must realize that I was in 7th heaven just seeing that gorgeous snow...

It was a great month for us---and a wonderful Arkansas trip! The header at the top shows you a view from our backyard at the cabin---and this picture I feature today was one showing a beautiful late-afternoon sky with the sun beaming its sunbeams down on the valley and mountains. Hope you enjoy both pictures today.

Hugs,
Welcome to February, 2016.... My one prayer for this month is for us NOT to have another month like we did in 2015. Most of you will remember that our area suffered LOTS of damage from a devastating ICE STORM. We were without electricity for several days (weeks for some) ---and terrible tree and home/building damage was found ALL over the county (and Cumberland Plateau). It was something I hope to NEVER experience again...

BUT--as happens in all of life, GOOD comes out of the BAD... My picture today is AFTER the ice storm when the sun came out! The trees were covered with tiny little Jewels!!!!!! The ice was still EVERYWHERE ----but when George and I stepped outside and looked up at the trees, we were amazed. Those glistening trees were just gorgeous...

Hope February is good to us this year, and even though those glistening trees were beautiful, I hope we don't see them this month in 2016!

BUT---I hope that all of you will stay warm beside the fire this month, since I am using a close-up of our fireplace for my February Header picture above, just to keep you warm.
On my blog post this week on Joyful Reflections (click HERE), I talked about many things which have gone on in our lives in 2015. I mentioned our favorite TRAVEL TRIP this year --which was our visit to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks in August.

One thing we enjoyed doing most every night while we were there was traveling to various overlooks in the Tetons to get SUNSET pictures. AND did we ever see some beauties!!!!! Today I'll share another one --which I have not shared before. Hope you enjoy it!

I hope also that you have an awesome, healthy and HAPPY NEW YEAR... Blessings to you, all during 2016... (January's header picture is an early morning SUNRISE as we took a walk on the cart path at the Druid Hills Golf Course, Fairfield Glade, TN on 1-5-16.)
