Needles Eye Tunnel, South Dakota

We visited the Black Hills of South Dakota on September 25, 2012.   The scenery along the Needles Highway was awesome... Here is a picture of the  Needles Eye Tunnel -which we traveled through that day!  It was INCREDIBLE!!

Awe inspiring! You must have had to go single file there. I wonder if there was a long queue? If so, it must have been worth the wait. I love you header with the periwinkles and white tulips.

So glad you are back in the saddle. I am thinking of returning also.
I have to wonder how they did that. I would be a tad nervous going through that.

oh that is pretty awesome looking. It doesn't look like a very wide road, is that wide enough for 2 cars to pass through at the same time?

Wow that sure does look like the eye of a needle. Nice photo though it tells the whole story beautifully. Happy Wednesday!

Oh my! That is incredible to look at. Was it a one-way road? If not, how did you know if a car was approaching from the other direction?

...that's pretty. Reminds me of a tunnel in the Poudre Canyon area of the Rockies, northwest of Denver.

I do not like tight ares, but I do like your header.

I can't imagine being on the road crew who built that, can you? I would imagine they had to blast through some of that rock unless it had the natural rectangle at the bottom. It reminds me a bit of the Fat Man's Squeeze at Rock City - - - but on a grander scale of course!
